Glue for securing JST and other connectors to a board
961 1 Sep 20.2019, 17:06:57

I've made some boards with a lot of JST and pin headers/connectors and other elements that I want to glue down tight to the board as they will be used quite a lot. What sort of glue would be best for this?
I know some sort of epoxy would work well, but they are quite expensive, . Maybe some off-brand names that work just as well?
Thanks.

A soldered through-hole pin will rip the PCB apart before the solder joint breaks. They're incredibly strong in shear.
In any case, on something like a plastic body JST connector, the connector housing is only attached to the pins by friction. Gluing down the plastic won't have any significant effect on the stress experienced by the pins; they're free to slide.
